Pownce. El Morté.
This just received in my InBox…Pownce is shutting down on Dec. 15…actually I think it’s nice to see someone say…”we gave it a go, but we did not fare as well as others…”
The note on the blog says that 2 of the founders will be joining Six Apart…neither of which is Kevin Rose, who will likely stick w/Digg.
We are sad to announce that Pownce is shutting down on December 15, 2008. As of today, Pownce will no longer be accepting new users or new
pro accounts.To help with your transition, we have built an export tool so you can save your content. You can find the export tool at Settings > Export. Please export your content by December 15, 2008, as the site will not be accessible after this date.

I set up an account after scoring an invite to the private beta…but I never saw the value really…no innovation so much…just a pretty face on some basic tools…Twitter had them scooped. C’est la vie and bon voyage.
