At first, some time ago…I was very skeptical re: the utility of Twitter…My pal Ken Villines was encouraging me to sign up…and follow his “Tweets”, so I did…and after about 12 hours…I reset my prefereneces…Ken was really enjoying the service…and I had subscribed to be updated by SMS to his Twitter stream…getting an unsoliceted text message from anyone about the banalities of life seemed too much an anoyance for me at the time…fast forward to my receipt of the v.1 iPhone…and the creation by the Iconfactory of one of my first iPhone App Store installs…Twitterrific.
What changed my mind on Twitter was the discovery that I could update my feeds via IM, a feature that has since become disabled…and as I understand it…will eventually be reparied…I was able to update at my leisure w/out having to visit Twitter.com, which I found much more convenient…then I found Twitterrific…and now Twitterrific for Mac OS X. I can update quickly and easily outside of the browser…by keeping the applet outside the browser…it’s visiblity helps me remember to tweet…and I can embed that stream in my blog…see the box on the lower right…best of all…it’s free!
