I don’t often talk about my briefcase/laptop bag fetish, and for the past three years…after having found the Osprey Transit, I haven’t had to…it’s been relatively calm, the Transit has performed all the duties I have requested of it…as a messenger bag I can wear it on my lower back and not look like a pear, which is what I do look like when I wear a backpack…although after the recent election of BO, my sense is that taking care of my body might be worthwhile since the planet may be here in 50 years, I may start doing push ups again! Which is why when this morning I saw the RSS item posting a new Booq backpack…I just had to take a look…
There are more than a few manufacturers of bags worth a damn for carrying a MacBook Pro…the three I keep my eye on are Booq, Tom Bihn and Crumpler…there’s also Kata…but Kata is really the bag for photo/video/laptop travel…
Anyway…a backpack bag is always more comfortable for anyone walking further than the distance from their car to their office…when I do make those walks…it’s usually w/video and photo gear…which means I grab the Kata R-103…I also have access to the R-106 w/the optional trolley…very helpful on my trip to China/Japan w/the Nikon D200, the Sony HVR-A1U, the G-RAID mini and the MacBook Pro…
The Booq Mamba looks like a trooper…even though I’ve never owned a Booq bag…the Booq products when I’ve inspected them at high end shops and conferneces are always very well constructed, and seem to be held onto for long periods of time by those who have them. Compartments and accordian style pocket construction offer plenty of space…the color schemes are also a nice option…and at $135, that’s a pretty reasonable price for a bag that you’ll be able to use indefinitely…
